Elizabeth Emenike Aims for African Table Tennis Dominance

Elizabeth Emenike, a 13-year-old table tennis player from Abia State, has set her goal to become Africa’s top-ranked player in the U-15 category. This ambition follows her victory in the U-13 category at the sixth Edem Offiong Table Tennis Championship held in Calabar, Cross River State.

Emenike triumphed over several established youth players to claim the title, expressing her confidence in her future aspirations. She stated, “I want to become the African number one in U-15 this year and eventually transition into a top senior player.” Emenike credits her rapid rise in the sport to her parents, who supported her involvement in an academy and her participation in major competitions, including the Atanda Musa Tournament, the National Youth Games, and ITTF Youth Championships in Nigeria and Ghana.

Despite feeling anxious before the Calabar tournament due to the competition, she overcame her nerves and defeated the defending champion to secure the U-13 female title.
