G.O. Nebo Memorial Foundation Celebrates 20 Years of Impact

The G.O. Nebo Memorial Foundation marked its 20th anniversary on May 20 at Nebo Hall, Abalti Barrack, Ojuelegba, Lagos, with a public lecture aimed at rethinking Nigeria's education system.

The event honored Col Godfrey Okechukwu Nebo, a retired army officer, and featured Mari Ohagwasi, the foundation's founder and Col Nebo's daughter. Ohagwasi reflected on her father's legacy and the foundation's mission to preserve it through educational initiatives, including scholarships for indigent girls and vocational training centers.

Dr. Dideolu Adekogbe, a consultant, highlighted the urgent need for partnerships in education and criticized the traditional rigid school models, advocating for the adoption of digital tools and flexible learning approaches.

Both speakers stressed the importance of valuing teachers to improve educational outcomes and prepare the youth for future challenges. The foundation's work has evolved over two decades to address various educational and developmental needs in Nigeria.
