GOC Survives Terrorist Ambush in Kebbi, Troops Respond

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army survived an ambush while en route to visit frontline troops deployed in Kebbi. The attack occurred in a volatile forest terrain where the convoy faced heavy fire from terrorists.

Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, acting as the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the division, reported that the troops, under the leadership of Major General Koughna, responded with overwhelming firepower, neutralizing five terrorists and successfully repelling the ambush. Following the operation, troops conducted a meticulous sweep of the area, recovering a significant cache of weapons and intelligence materials, including one OJC gun, one PKT gun, two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, several rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, a camel bag containing 840,000, two mobile phones, and five motorcycles.

Lieutenant Colonel Osoba emphasized the troops' vigilance in the area to maintain dominance and prevent further attacks, underscoring the unwavering commitment of the 8 Division to protect civilians and eliminate terrorist threats in the northwest region.
