Vonobolki Declares End of Godfatherism in Adamawa Politics

Maurice Vonobolki, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Adamawa in the 2027 elections, stated that "godfatherism" has ended in the state. Speaking to journalists upon his return from Abuja, Vonobolki noted that the emergence of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in 2019 marked a significant shift away from political godfathers.

He asserted that Fintiri was elected without the backing of a godfather and called on the people of Adamawa to take ownership of their governance. Vonobolki criticized the practice of godfatherism, urging voters to support candidates who represent their interests.

He also addressed concerns regarding the PDP's internal dynamics, stating that the party remains united and that any misunderstandings during the primaries have been resolved. Vonobolki expressed confidence that the PDP would win the 2027 elections and invited aggrieved members to return to the party, emphasizing the importance of unity ahead of the elections.
