Goje Rejects APC Consensus Plan for Gombe Senate Seat

Muhammad Danjuma Goje, the former governor of Gombe State, has publicly rejected the consensus arrangement reportedly adopted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Gombe Central senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 elections. This rejection follows a meeting held on Sunday, where APC stakeholders, including current Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, endorsed Moham Ahmadu Deba as the party's preferred candidate.

Goje, who is seeking a fifth term in the Senate, emphasized that the Electoral Act clearly outlines the nomination procedures for political parties, which must be strictly followed to ensure a legal, fair, and transparent electoral process. In a statement issued by Barrister Saidu Muazu Kumo, it was noted that several aspirants across different constituencies have already purchased nomination forms and are not part of the consensus arrangement.

Goje insists that the nomination process should be conducted through direct primary elections monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and relevant security agencies.
