Goje Rejects APC Consensus Arrangement for 2027 Elections

Danjuma Goje, the Senator representing Gombe Central, has publicly rejected the consensus arrangement adopted by the Gombe State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for candidate selection in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Goje, who is seeking a fifth term in the Senate, criticized the arrangement, stating that it was flawed and did not involve all aspirants who had validly purchased nomination forms.

His statement, issued through his aide Barr. Saidu Muazu Kumo, emphasized that the purported consensus meeting, which involved Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya and the APC's consensus candidate Moham Ahmadu Deba, was not representative of the party's broader interests.

Goje highlighted that the Electoral Act clearly provides a legal framework for the nomination of candidates by political parties, which includes the submission of candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He insisted that the nomination process should be conducted transparently through direct primaries, monitored by INEC and relevant security agencies.
