Gombe Community Urgently Seeks Help for Healthcare Centre

Residents of Bogo Community in Grako Ward, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe have urgently appealed for the rehabilitation of the Bogo Primary Health Centre, which collapsed due to heavy rainfall. The facility, located in Hayin Kwarin Misau, has suspended operations, significantly affecting access to healthcare services for vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children.

A community leader indicated that the health centre had been in poor condition prior to the collapse, attributing this to neglect by authorities. Before the incident, the centre served a considerable number of residents, with 20 to 35 pregnant women attending for first antenatal care appointments monthly, and 10 to 15 seeking skilled birth delivery services.

Following the collapse, the facility is temporarily operating from a staff quarters' living room, raising safety concerns as the perimeter fence has also fallen. Residents have urged the Chairman of Akko Local Government Council and relevant authorities to intervene swiftly to restore essential healthcare services.
