INEC Chairman Amupitan Reviews Bye-Elections for 2027 Prep

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, has characterized the bye-elections held in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi, and Delta states as vital for assessing Nigeria's electoral infrastructure ahead of the 2027 general election. During his supervision at the Commission’s National Situation Room in Abuja, Amupitan noted that no electoral contest should be deemed insignificant, as each bye-election serves as a preparatory exercise for the larger electoral process.

The bye-elections included the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State, Sakwa and Disina State Constituencies in Bauchi State, and Udu State Constituency in Delta State. He assured Nigerians of INEC's commitment to electoral integrity and stated that operational challenges identified before polling were effectively managed.

Amupitan emphasized the importance of these elections in reviewing logistics, validating technology, and assessing administrative preparedness for the upcoming general election.
