INEC's Gajiram Prepares for Gombe Bye-Election on September 19

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), under the leadership of Resident Electoral Commissioner Mr. Umar Mukhtar Gajiram, is intensifying final preparations for the Gombe bye-election set for 19th September 2026. This election will encompass three Local Government Areas (LGAs), 31 Registration Areas, and 903 Polling Units, with a total of 495,851 registered voters.

Mr. Gajiram conducted a readiness assessment tour of key training and operational centers, starting at the INEC Area Office in Kwami LGA and continuing to Mallam Sidi Primary School, where Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) were being trained. He emphasized the importance of professionalism, impartiality, and integrity among the election personnel, urging them to adhere strictly to INEC's electoral procedures.

The tour concluded at the Hajiya Amina Inuwa Gombe Women Development Centre, where technical support staff were briefed. INEC has completed training for Supervisory Presiding Officers, POs, and APOs, reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful, transparent, and credible bye-election.
