Gombe Merges Education Ministries for Sector Reform

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya announced the merger of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education into a single ministry as part of ongoing structural reforms in the education sector. This announcement was made on Friday during the reception of the Taskforce Committee's report on the Reforms and Revitalisation of Basic and Technical Education, presented by Tom Maiyashi and Dr Aishatu Maigari.

Yahaya emphasized that the report serves as a critical blueprint for transforming the state's education system and assured that his administration would implement its recommendations promptly. The restructuring aims to enhance coordination, policy implementation, and service delivery in education.

Yahaya also reflected on the state of education when he took office in 2019, noting significant interventions to improve infrastructure, teacher development, and school enrolment. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring quality education for future generations as part of the state's 10-year development agenda.
