Gombe State Achieves Second in Fiscal Transparency Ranking

Gombe State has risen to the second position in Nigeria's fiscal transparency ranking, achieving a score of 68% according to the 2025 Subnational Audit Efficiency Index released by Paradigm Leadership Support. This marks a significant improvement from its previous 16th position, showcasing sustained progress in fiscal oversight and the strengthening of its independent audit system.

The report highlights the effective implementation of legal frameworks guiding public audits and the direct funding to the Office of the Auditor General, which has enhanced financial autonomy and reduced executive interference in the audit process. Additionally, improvements at the local government level contributed significantly to the overall score, accounting for 55% of the assessment.

The upward trajectory aligns with the governance reforms introduced by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, which focus on promoting transparency and prudent resource management. The Gombe State government has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening transparency and strengthening institutional frameworks to sustain this progress.
