Gombe State Launches N5.2bn Street Naming Initiative

Gombe State has unveiled a comprehensive plan to invest N5.2 billion in modernizing street naming and house numbering as part of a geospatial data capture project. The initiative aims to build a modern digital address system in the state, aligning with the Nigerian National Street Address Standard guidelines established by NIPOST in 2017.

The project is expected to cost N3,215,562,000, with an additional N2,026,962,000 allocated for the comprehensive geospatial data capture. Gogi Kabiru Hassan, the Director General, described this initiative as a cornerstone of Gombe State's ongoing land administration and urban governance reform agenda.

The project aims to strengthen service delivery, enhance security, and improve economic efficiency within the Gombe metropolitan area. Upon completion, every property will have a traceable and verifiable address, facilitating quicker responses from security agencies, health workers, and fire services during emergencies.
