Google Launches AI Learning Hub for Africa's Workforce

Google has introduced a free digital and artificial intelligence (AI) learning platform named Skilling Africa with Google, aimed at Nigerians and other Africans. The initiative targets three million people for skills development by 2030, with an initial goal of 250,000 graduates by the end of 2026.
The platform consolidates over 15 of Google's training programs into a single hub, offering skills in AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, digital marketing, and business development. Alex Okosi, Google's Managing Director for Africa, stated that the initiative aims to enhance Africa's capacity to engage in the AI economy.
Google estimates that over 90 percent of employers in Africa struggle to find workers with practical AI and cloud computing skills, despite the continent's projected $2.9 trillion economic opportunity from AI. The program builds on previous initiatives that have seen over seven million young Africans complete foundational digital skills training.
The platform also addresses barriers to online learning, such as internet access and device limitations.
