Alia Urges JAMB to Reschedule Exams for Kidnapped Students

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has clashed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) regarding the identity of eight kidnapped victims recently rescued from the Makurdi-Otukpo road. Alia called for JAMB to reschedule the examination dates for these eight students, emphasizing the need for support for those affected.

This appeal came during a press conference held at the Old Banquet Hall of the Government House in Makurdi, where he noted that 13 victims are still unrescued. The governor explained that 18 passengers, including the JAMB candidates, were abducted by gunmen on a Wednesday night.

He highlighted the importance of ensuring that the students do not miss their examinations due to the traumatic incident. Alia confirmed that seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and urged security agencies to eliminate criminal elements in the area.

The state’s Commissioner of Health, Dr. Paul Ogwuch, is overseeing the medical treatment of the rescued victims.
