Bauchi Governor Signs Bill for 29 New LGAs, Awaits NASS Approval

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has signed a bill to establish 29 new local government areas in the state, awaiting final approval from the National Assembly. The move is part of the constitutional process to recognize more LGAs beyond the current 20 in Bauchi.

The bill was signed on October 28, 2025, and transmitted to Abuja for ratification. The new LGAs will remain pending until the National Assembly passes the required legislation.

This development could potentially increase the total number of local governments in Bauchi to 49.
