Governor Bala Mohammed Signals Move to ADC from PDP

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has indicated his intention to defect from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This announcement follows failed reconciliation efforts within the PDP, particularly involving factions led by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.

Governor Mohammed made his intentions known after a closed-door meeting with ADC delegates, which was led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal at the Bauchi Government House on Wednesday. He described the ADC as an enduring and acceptable platform and acknowledged ongoing discussions to join the party.

A formal decision regarding the move is expected to be announced on Thursday. Mohammed emphasized the need for opposition parties to strengthen their efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections, as articulated by Babachir Lawal, who noted the challenges facing Nigerian opposition parties in ousting President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming elections.

Lawal praised Mohammed as a fearless dog fighter, highlighting his leadership as vital to the ADC's mission.
