Yobe State Launches Violent Crime Response Unit

On Tuesday, Governor Mai Mala Buni inaugurated the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) at the Yobe State Police Command in Damaturu. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the state's efforts to enhance safety and justice.

The VCRU was established to tackle the pressing threats to peace and development posed by violent crime. Governor Buni emphasized the importance of the unit, which is trained to act swiftly and professionally in accordance with the rule of law.

The VCRU will be equipped with personnel and tools to effectively respond to serious crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, unlawful possession of firearms, and organized criminal activities. Buni urged the VCRU officers to justify public confidence by responding rapidly to protect citizens and uphold human rights.

The establishment of this unit is part of the Nigeria Police Force's strategic initiative to strengthen proactive policing and enhance rapid responses to criminal activities across the country.
