Kwara Police Launches Violent Crime Response Unit

On Friday, the Kwara State Police Command officially inaugurated the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) at the Police Officers' Mess in Ilorin. The event marked the culmination of a two-day capacity-building program organized for the newly established unit, which operates under the mandate of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu.

The VCRU is tasked with tackling armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes through intelligence-driven operations, ensuring the protection of lives and property while adhering to human rights standards. The inauguration featured speeches from key figures, including Kwara State Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi, who emphasized the importance of community trust and public accountability in police operations.

The program included security awareness lectures and interactive sessions with stakeholders, such as traditional rulers, youth representatives, and market leaders, aimed at strengthening police-community partnerships and enhancing public safety across the state. The Kwara State Police Command urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by sharing credible information.
