Governor Diri Honors Late Father in Memorial Service

On February 12, 2023, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and his family laid wreaths in honor of his late father, Pa Abraham Joseph Michael Diri, during a memorial service at the family mausoleum in Sampou, Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area. Pa Abraham Diri, a retired headmaster and member of the Anglican Church, passed away at the age of 88.

Governor Diri expressed gratitude for the significant turnout of dignitaries who joined the family in remembering his father, emphasizing the values instilled in him and his siblings. He noted that his father raised them in the fear of the Lord, which shaped their character.

The event also featured a brief sermon by Rev. Godspower Asingba, who urged attendees to live worthy lives.

Present at the ceremony were various dignitaries, including Dr. Gloria Diri, Justice Patience Diri, Senator Kaduna South Sunday Katung, and members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, among others.
