Diri Celebrates Six Years in Office with Thanksgiving Service

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri commemorated his sixth year in office with a Thanksgiving service held at the Ecumenical Centre in Igbogen. The event was marked by a solemn ceremony that paid tribute to the late Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who passed away during Diri's administration.

Governor Diri expressed his gratitude to the people of Bayelsa and acknowledged the support of the arms of government throughout the years. He read Psalm 23:1-6, attributing his administration's achievements to unity and collective effort, urging citizens to continue working together for the state's development.

Ongoing projects aimed at opening up the hinterland and improving infrastructure were highlighted. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, described Diri as an emergent divine intervention, emphasizing that no individual should claim credit for the rise to power.
