Umo Eno Wins Football Friendly Governor Award 2025

Pastor Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, was recognized as the Football Friendly Governor of the Year 2025 at the 12th Nigeria Pitch Awards, achieving a notable score of 123 points. This victory reflects the increasing prominence of Akwa Ibom in the sports sector, particularly football, as Eno outperformed Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who scored 99 points, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who garnered 78 points.

The 24-point lead emphasizes Eno's commitment to football and sports development. Akwa Ibom has become a preferred venue for major international fixtures, notably hosting Nigeria's senior national football team, the Super Eagles, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
