Kebbi State Allocates N2.07bn for Tertiary Education Boost

The Kebbi State Government, led by Governor Nasir Idris, has released over N2.07 billion for interventions in tertiary institutions to enhance facilities and improve staff and student welfare. Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, announced the distribution of seven 32-seater, fully air-conditioned coaster buses to various state-owned institutions, costing N1.75 billion.

The institutions benefiting from this initiative include Abdullahi Fodiyo University of Science and Technology, Adamu Augie College of Education, Kebbi State College of Nursing Sciences, Kauran Gwandu College of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences, College of Health Sciences and Technology, Kebbi State Polytechnic, and College of Advanced and Legal Studies. Additionally, on August 14, Governor Idris approved N172 million for the payment of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) and Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowance (CONTTA) to various university staff unions, with an annual commitment of N2.06 billion.

The governor also approved N151.51 million for annual increment arrears owed to university staff. Dr. Zayyanu Umar was appointed as the new Provost of Adamu Augie College of Education.
