Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris Can Pay Salaries for 5 Months

On Monday, during the opening of the health workers summit in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris stated that his administration could pay workers’ salaries and pensions for five consecutive months without depending on funds from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). He attributed this capability to prudent financial management and discipline.

Idris, a former National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers and deputy NLC President, reassured health workers of his commitment to their welfare. He mentioned that upon assuming office, he lifted the employment embargo and hired 5,166 new workers, including doctors, health workers, and nurses.

His administration has also improved the health sector and implemented a new consolidated salary structure for healthcare professionals. Furthermore, he indicated that Kebbi State would be among the first to implement the new minimum wage following negotiations between labor and the federal government.
