Kebbi Governor Supports 41 Widows of Late Soldiers

Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has supported 41 widows of late soldiers by providing N500,000 each, amounting to a total of N20.5 million.

This assistance was in response to an eviction order issued by the authorities of 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks in Birnin-Kebbi. The Chairperson of the Military Women Association of Nigeria (MIWA) in Kebbi, Hajiya Asma’u Umar-Kanoma, communicated that the support was requested through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Dutsinmari.

Umar-Kanoma emphasized that the financial aid was crucial for the beneficiaries to secure alternative accommodation amid the eviction. She noted that some of the widows had not received their husbands' death benefits, making the governor's gesture particularly timely.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the uncertainty created by the eviction order and the importance of government recognition of military families' sacrifices.
