Edo Governor Okpebholo Advocates Special Court for Crime

Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo has taken significant steps to combat cultism and kidnapping in the state by writing to the Chief Judge, requesting the creation of a special court for the swift trial of related criminal cases. The letter, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, was received by the Chief Judge on Friday.

Governor Okpebholo recommended the appointment of three judges to serve on this special panel, pending the Chief Judge's consideration. During a public parade on Thursday, he issued a strong warning to criminals, stating that the Edo State Police Command will not tolerate violent crime.

He indicated readiness to sign death warrants for individuals convicted of kidnapping, emphasizing the need to strengthen the criminal justice system to address the ongoing threats posed by cultism and kidnapping to peace in the state. Okpebholo urged the public to remain vigilant against these crimes.
