Lagos Governor to Honor Autistic Cyclist Kanyeyachukwu Today

On April 2, 2023, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is set to formally receive 16-year-old autistic cyclist Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke at the State House. This event coincides with World Autism Awareness Day, which aims to raise awareness about autism globally.

Kanyeyachukwu, who is accompanied by his parents and members of the Kanyeyachukwu Autism Foundation, has embarked on a cycling journey from Enugu State to Lagos to promote autism awareness. Mobolaji Ogunlend, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, praised Kanyeyachukwu's courage and determination, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity for youth with disabilities.

Ogunlend highlighted that the administration is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind and that young people with disabilities have opportunities to flourish. Kanyeyachukwu's father, Tagbo Okeke, expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the Lagos State government.

Kanyeyachukwu previously set a Guinness World Record for unveiling the largest painted canvas in Abuja.
