Minister Celebrates Autistic Teen's Guinness Record Achievement

On April 2, 2026, Minister of Arts, Culture, and Tourism, Hannatu Musawa, commended 16-year-old Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo Okek for achieving his second Guinness World Record by completing a 100-mile cycling journey across seven states to promote autism awareness. The journey began on March 14, 2026, in Enugu State and concluded in Lagos State, coinciding with World Autism Awareness Day.

Musawa described Kanyeyachukwu's accomplishment as a testament to courage and resilience, emphasizing the urgent need for inclusivity for individuals living with autism in Nigeria. Kanyeyachukwu, a non-verbal autistic teenager, previously set a record in 2025 for creating the largest painted canvas by an individual.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, pledged 200 million Naira towards autism advocacy in support of Kanyeyachukwu's foundation. Musawa highlighted the importance of developing support systems for individuals with autism and announced plans for youth programs to connect creative advocacy with autism awareness.
