Lagos State Honors Young Cyclist for World Record Achievement

The Lagos State Government honored 16-year-old Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo Okek for achieving a Guinness World Record as the youngest male cyclist to complete a 100-mile ride. This recognition took place on April 2, coinciding with World Autism Awareness Day.

Kanyeyachukwu, who previously set a record for creating the largest paint canvas, rode across seven states, including Enugu, Anambra, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Ogun, and Lagos. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended Kanyeyachukwu for overcoming disabilities and bringing glory to Nigeria, highlighting the state's commitment to inclusivity for people with disabilities.

The event also featured a donation of N100 million to Kanyeyachukwu's foundation from the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs. Mobolaji Ogunlend, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, praised Kanyeyachukwu's courage and the support from his parents, who encouraged him to excel despite challenges.

The event emphasized the importance of recognizing and promoting acceptance of individuals with autism.
