Soludo Imposes Six-Month Suspension on Late Workers

On Thursday, Governor Prof. Charles Soludo of Anambra State announced a six-month suspension without pay for workers who were late to their duties.

This decision was made after he discovered a lack of punctuality during a visit to the State Civil Service Commission at 10:00 AM. The governor's anger was evident as he instructed the head of the civil service to implement the suspensions.

Following this, he visited the state secretariat, where he found similar issues with attendance. Workers expressed shock at the harsh punishment, particularly those who travel long distances from areas like Nnewi and Onitsha.

They criticized the governor for not being sensitive to their challenges. In response to the situation, the government provided buses for civil servants to facilitate their commute from Ekwulobia to Onitsha and Nnewi.

The governor's actions have sparked significant concern among the workforce regarding the implications of such strict measures.
