Gov Yusuf Approves N21.9bn for Water Plant Rehabilitation

Governor Yusuf of Kano State has approved a budget of N21.9 billion for the rehabilitation of water plants in the state. This amount includes N9.9 billion allocated for the rehabilitation of the Challawa water treatment plant and N11.99 billion for the upgrade of the Tamburawa water treatment plant.

The governor's administration aims to ensure a regular and sustainable supply of pipe-borne water to residents of Kano metropolis and surrounding communities. Access to clean water is a top priority for the administration, which is committed to restoring effective water supply by the end of 2027.

The rehabilitation and upgrade of these major water facilities are expected to significantly improve water production and distribution across the state. Additionally, Governor Yusuf announced plans for the state government to provide fertilizer to farmers at subsidized rates during the current rainy season to boost agricultural production and enhance food security.
