UAE Cabinet to Declare Two-Day National Day Holiday

The UAE Cabinet is set to announce a two-day public holiday for National Day, which will occur on Wednesday, December 2, and Thursday, December 3, 2026. This holiday will apply to both public and private sector workers.

Given that the holiday falls mid-week, employees may have the opportunity to extend their time off by taking additional annual leave days before or after the holiday, contingent on their remaining leave days and employer approval. Under Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024, the UAE Cabinet has the authority to shift eligible public holidays to the beginning or end of a working week, although this does not apply to Eid holidays.

If National Day is moved, it could result in a four-day break when combined with the weekend. Workers are advised to check their company's annual leave policy and submit requests early to secure approval for any planned time off.
