Osun Governor Accused of Spreading False Information on Local Government Funding

The ongoing battle over the administration and funding of local governments in Osun State has intensified as Governor Adeleke faces accusations of spreading false information. Dr.

Bolaji Akinola, the special adviser to the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, has accused Governor Gboyega Oyetola of using propaganda and falsehood to hide his administration's shortcomings. Akinola strongly refuted Adeleke's claims, stating that the financial bottleneck faced by the councils is a result of the state government's legal maneuvers and not external interference.

The dispute stems from a court of appeal judgment on February 10, 2025, which reinstated local government chairmen elected during the previous APC administration. Adeleke's claims of expired chairmen tenures were debunked by Akinola, who emphasized the need for the state leadership to address the legal realities instead of resorting to misinformation and seeking public sympathy.
