Governor Eno Faults Aides Over ‘Stipend’ Tag On N1m Monthly Pay

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State criticized his aides for misleading constituents about their monthly pay, labeling it as a "stipend" when they actually receive up to N1 million. The governor expressed disappointment at the aides' deceitful actions, warning against ingratitude and urging them to seek alternative employment if they are dissatisfied.

He emphasized the need for government officials to complement efforts in fighting poverty and directed the Secretary of State Government to compile the names of political appointees and their salaries for public disclosure. Some aides, speaking anonymously, expressed concern over the governor's decision to reveal their salaries, fearing potential attacks or robbery.

They also highlighted the pressure they face from constituents who expect financial assistance every month, leading to personal financial strains.
