Kwara Central Favored for Governorship Ticket Over Abdulrazaq

The political landscape in Kwara State is undergoing significant changes as factions within the ruling APC are reportedly favoring the Kwara Central senatorial district for the governorship ticket, against the wishes of Governor Abdulrazaq, who is advocating for a shift to the Kwara North senatorial district. Sources indicate that the power bloc within the APC is pushing for candidates from Kwara Central, which boasts greater voting strength.

Notable aspirants from this bloc include Prof Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, Dele Belgor, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, and Dr Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki. Meanwhile, Ogun State Governor Abiodun is engaged in a separate contest for the Ogun East senatorial district ticket.

Reports also mention that Governor Abdulrazaq was absent from a recent APC meeting due to health issues, while he and Governor Abiodun traveled to France to meet with President Bola Tinubu, highlighting ongoing political negotiations.
