Kwara South Rejects APC's Alleged Succession Plan

Stakeholders from Kwara South have expressed their opposition to an alleged succession plan within the All Progressives Congress (APC) that appears to favor Kwara Central for the 2027 governorship seat. They argue that such a move would undermine fair political representation and extend political dominance in Kwara Central, which has already held the governorship for nearly three decades.

The statement, signed by Chief Gbenga Awoyal of the Orisun Igbomina group, warns against interpreting Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's endorsement of Ambassador Abdulfatahi Yahaya Seriki as a collective position of the people of Kwara. The stakeholders insist that any political arrangements must involve genuine consultations across the state to ensure inclusivity.

They call for support from traditional rulers, religious leaders, and civil society to foster a democratic process that accommodates all regions, particularly Kwara South, which they believe plays a significant role in the state's political landscape.
