PDP Declared Leaderless After Supreme Court Ruling

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared leaderless after a Supreme Court ruling nullified its national convention held on November 15-16, 2025, which produced a leadership led by Tanimu Turaki. The court's decision, which was a split ruling of 3-2, stated that the convention breached an existing court order that restrained the PDP from proceeding without meeting specific conditions.

The ruling also reaffirmed the suspension of Kamaldeen Ajibade and Samuel Anyanwu, leaving the party without a clearly defined leadership structure. In response, the PDP's Board of Trustees, led by Babangida Aliyu, announced an emergency meeting scheduled for Sunday, followed by a National Executive Committee meeting on Monday to determine the party's next line of action.

Aliyu emphasized the need for reconciliation and stability within the party to restore its political strength, urging members to remain steadfast during this crisis.
