PDP Leadership Transition Following Supreme Court Ruling

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of Adolphus Wabara, has officially assumed control of the party following a Supreme Court judgment that deemed the national convention held on November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, invalid. The Supreme Court's decision, delivered on Thursday, has led to the suspension of key party officials, including Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Hon.

Umar Batur, and Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade.

The ruling declared the outcomes of the convention null and void, prompting the BoT to take immediate action to prevent a leadership vacuum. Wabara emphasized the BoT's responsibility to restore stability and promote genuine reconciliation within the party.

The BoT's intervention is in accordance with the provisions of the PDP constitution as amended in 2017, allowing them to lead until a new convention can be organized, which is expected to take place on March 29, 2026.
