Nigeria Targets 12 Bcf Daily Gas Production by 2030

The Nigerian government is focused on increasing gas production to 12 billion cubic feet per day by 2030, with current outputs at 6.8 billion cubic feet per day in 2023 and a projected increase to 7.5 billion cubic feet per day by 2025. Mr.

Ed Ubong, the Coordinating Director of the Decade Gas Secretariat, disclosed this during a World Bank ministerial roundtable workshop in Abuja. The initiative, running from 2021 to 2030, aims to unlock Nigeria's vast gas reserves, which are essential for economic growth.

The project requires robust public-private partnerships and significant investment, with 16 priority pipeline projects identified needing $22 billion in funding. Nigeria plans to increase liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) consumption from 1.8 million tons per annum to 3 million tons by 2030, supporting the distribution of five million gas cylinders nationwide.

The initiative emphasizes collaboration across borders to enhance Africa's gas potential and ensure a competitive market.
