Nigeria's Oil Output Rises to 1.84mbpd Amid Security Boost

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) reported that enhanced pipeline security has driven the country's crude oil production to 1.84 million barrels per day (mbpd), a significant increase from a historic low of 960,000 barrels per day in 2022. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, disclosed this during a parliamentary roundtable on pipeline security held at the National Assembly in Abuja.

According to a statement from NNPCL spokesman Andi Odeh, the rise in production is attributed to deliberate government efforts to secure oil pipelines in the Niger Delta. Ojulari emphasized that this achievement is not accidental but results from an integrated energy security model that combines legislative, executive, and policy actions.

The statement also highlighted the importance of addressing oil theft and pipeline sabotage to restore investor confidence in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. The roundtable included discussions among various stakeholders, including military and police representatives, to evaluate progress in ensuring equitable growth in oil production.
