Nigerian Government Allocates N6.12 Billion for Judgment Debts in 2026 Budget

The Nigerian government has budgeted N6.12 billion for judgment debts in the 2026 budget, reflecting an increase from the previous year. The Federal Ministry of Works accounts for the largest share, with specific court cases identified, including one related to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Despite lower provisions in the education and health ministries, the overall allocation for judgment debts has increased. Minister Dave Umahi disclosed the government's concession plans for stalled court cases on infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and others in Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, and Benin.
