Grammys Introduce Five New Categories and Rule Changes

The Grammy Awards, organized by the Recording Academy, announced the introduction of five new categories aimed at reflecting the evolving landscape of global music. The new categories include Best Asian Pop Music Performance, which celebrates releases across K-pop, J-pop, and C-pop, and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance, honoring artists whose music distinctly differs from contemporary pop.

Additionally, the Best Latin Song category will recognize songwriting in songs predominantly featuring Spanish lyrics, while Best Traditional Folk Album will be separated from the broader Americana field. The fifth new category, Best R&B Collaboration, will acknowledge outstanding vocal and instrumental collaborations within the R&B genre.

Alongside these additions, significant rule changes were made to the Best New Artist category, allowing artists to submit for consideration four times, an increase from the previous limit of three submissions. This change aims to better reflect the reality of modern artists' development, with artists like Ella Langley and Megan Moroney already benefiting from these updates.
