GreenPath Africa Develops Talent for AfDB's Mission 300

GreenPath Africa is focusing on building talent infrastructure to support the African Development Bank's (AfDB) Mission 300, which aims to connect 300 million Africans to electricity through renewable energy solutions by 2030. Despite Africa holding 60% of the world's renewable energy resources, it only accounts for 2% of global jobs in the sector.

This issue was discussed at a pan-African masterclass hosted by GreenPath Africa, where industry leaders proposed strategies to align local talent with upcoming investments. Ayobami Adedinni, CEO of GreenPath Africa, emphasized the need for a domestic workforce in this transition.

The organization, launched in January 2026, has expanded its community to include members from 25 African countries. A key initiative is the Climate Careers Festival scheduled for September 29th in Ibadan, Nigeria, which aims to connect 500 pre-qualified students and professionals with employers, with 25 job slots already confirmed.

The masterclass, moderated by Oluwaseyi Alabi, highlighted the diverse skills needed for Mission 300, including project finance and ESG reporting.
