Genesis Energy Champions Africa's Industrial Future at AEF 2026

At the 2026 Africa Energy Forum (AEF) held in Cape Town, under the theme “Building Africa’s Industrialised Future,” Genesis Energy engaged with policymakers, investors, and industry leaders to address Africa's energy infrastructure challenges. The forum emphasized the need to transition from ambition to execution in utilizing the continent's resources for economic growth.

Genesis Energy sponsored a boardroom session on “Financing Africa’s Gas Infrastructure Deficit,” featuring key figures such as Hon. Biodun Ogunleye, Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, and executives from Globeleq and Siemens Energy. Melissa Fadzai Sikwila, Executive Vice President of Project Development and Investment at Genesis Energy, highlighted the importance of local value creation, citing Nigeria's gas wastage due to insufficient liquefaction plants.

The discussions underscored that Africa's infrastructure gap presents significant investment opportunities, with a focus on landmark projects like Genesis Energy’s 84MW gas-fired Independent Power Project (IPP) at Port Harcourt Refinery, which aims to replace costly diesel with locally processed gas.
