NYCN Backs Tinubu's Pipeline Surveillance Reforms

The Nigerian Youth Council (NYCN) has expressed its support for President Bola Tinubu's planned reforms regarding pipeline surveillance contracts in Nigeria. The council, represented by Rivers State Chairman Nwisabari Bani, highlighted the importance of maintaining a dialogue with grassroots communities and ensuring that marginalized stakeholders are included in the decision-making process.

The NYCN criticized previous administrations for monopolizing pipeline surveillance contracts, which limited opportunities for local actors and undermined inclusivity. They emphasized that the reforms should decentralize surveillance responsibilities, allowing qualified local youth to contribute meaningfully to the protection of Nigeria's oil and gas infrastructure.

Bani commended the proactive engagement of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Rivers State, led by Director Shola Aguda, in addressing conflict prevention. The council's stance reflects a commitment to fair and equitable practices that enhance community ownership and long-term security for national assets.
