Niger Delta Patriotic Front Demands Action on Coastal Erosion

The Niger Delta Patriotic Front (NDPF) condemned the federal government for its failure to address severe coastal erosion impacting over 150 communities in the Niger Delta region. Affected areas include Agge in Bayelsa State, Forcados in Burutu Local Government Area, and Ugborodo Federated Communities in Warri South-West Local Government Area, among others in Delta and Ondo States.

NDPF leaders, President David Odeli and Publicity Secretary Timi Okubor, demanded a new presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, criticizing both military and civilian administrations for neglecting the region since independence. They highlighted the poor state of critical infrastructure, including the Warri to Calabar East-West Road and the Lagos-Benin-Asaba Road, and condemned the location of International Oil Companies' headquarters outside the Niger Delta.

NDPF urged the federal government to implement strong regional policies and ensure optimal operation of seaports in the Niger Delta. Additionally, residents of Polobubo in Warri North Local Government Area called for urgent state government intervention to improve their dilapidated general hospital.
