Odua People's Congress Blames Leaders for Insecurity

The Odua People's Congress, represented by Mr. Maruf Olanrewaju, has attributed the widespread insecurity in Yorubaland to the negligence and silence of political leaders.

In a statement made yesterday, Olanrewaju reacted to the recent kidnapping of school children and a principal in the Orir local government area of Oyo State. He highlighted a careless attitude among leaders that has allowed the crisis to deepen.

Olanrewaju pointed out that traditional and political leaders have remained silent during critical moments, which has emboldened bandits and terrorists in regions such as Kwara and Kogi states. He expressed concern that the ongoing attacks are affecting Yoruba communities, including the Ifelodun local government area in Kwara State.

Olanrewaju called for immediate action from leaders to prioritize the safety of the Yoruba people over political comfort, stressing that the situation demands urgent reflection and decisive measures.
