Yoruba Coalition Calls for Action Against Insecurity

A coalition of Yoruba groups, including the Game Changer Group (TGC), is urging immediate regional action to combat the escalating insecurity in South-West Nigeria. Alhaji Bolaji Raji, the Director General of TGC, warned that the worsening security situation, characterized by increased kidnappings and killings, poses a significant threat to the region.

The coalition, which includes representatives from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Kwara, and Kogi states, aims to protect Yoruba interests and cultural heritage. Raji noted that insecurity has become a national challenge requiring collective action beyond ethnic politics.

Recent incidents, such as the abduction of students and staff from a high school in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and the kidnapping of 200 individuals in separate attacks in Kwara State, highlight the urgency of the situation. Otunba Olusola Orelaja emphasized the need for governors in the region to strengthen collaboration and take decisive action to prevent further violence and displacement of communities.
