CGGA Commends NCAA DG Najomo for Aviation Reforms

The Coalition for Good Governance in Africa (CGGA) commended Capt. Chris Ona Najomo, the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), for his leadership and efforts to strengthen regulation in Nigeria’s aviation sector. In a statement issued on Friday by its president, Mohammed Kudu, the coalition stated that Najomo should not be blamed for the broader challenges facing the industry, emphasizing that these issues require collective attention from regulators, airlines, airport operators, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

The CGGA's review of Najomo’s tenure highlighted his focus on safety oversight, consumer protection, regulatory efficiency, and creating a predictable investment environment. Najomo's extensive aviation experience, including previous roles within the authority and the airline industry, was noted.

The coalition also praised his efforts to attract global investment in Nigeria’s aviation market and his commitment to enforcing international regulatory frameworks. CGGA urged stakeholders to engage constructively rather than turning disagreements into confrontations that could hinder sector improvements.
