NAICOM and NCAA Sign MoU to Enhance Aviation Insurance

On 11 September 2026, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the NCAA corporate headquarters in Abuja. The agreement aims to protect policyholders and ensure the safety of air travelers.

Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, the Commissioner for Insurance, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in strengthening the safety, integrity, and resilience of Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem. The partnership will facilitate a coordinated framework for compliance, risk protection, and information sharing among stakeholders.

A Joint Technical Committee will be established to oversee the implementation of shared objectives, including periodic reviews of insurance requirements and capacity building. NAICOM will provide regulatory oversight and technical expertise, ensuring that aviation insurance arrangements are adequate and responsive to emerging risks.

The initiative is seen as vital for enhancing stakeholder confidence and promoting a sound insurance industry in Nigeria's aviation sector.
