Kwara Monarch Abduction Sparks Security Concerns

A coalition in Kwara South, led by Olaitan Oyin Zubair, condemned the recent abduction of traditional ruler Alhaji Saliman Oaweda and two others in Ifelodun Local Government Area. The attack occurred early Sunday morning in Olayinka Community, instilling fear among residents.

Zubair emphasized the need for coordinated action from security agencies, describing the incident as unacceptable and indicative of the worsening security situation in the region. He noted previous kidnappings in Idofin Odo, which had led to school closures.

The chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Abdulrashe Yusuf, also condemned the abduction, calling for strengthened local security frameworks. Following the incident, personnel from the forest guard commenced rescue operations to secure the release of the abducted individuals.

The 22 Armoured Brigade was urged to deploy full-scale military operations to address the ongoing insecurity affecting the community.
